Murmurations
September 12, 2025 at REDCAT
Role: Film and Video Projection
Media: single channel HD video projection
Duration: 60 minutes
Commissioned by REDCAT
Murmurations — both spontaneous flocks of starlings and the hum of continuous sounds. Drawing on the intelligence of decentralized and adaptive systems in nature, this performance is a meditation on shape-shifting and collective intelligence. Bodies resonate in responsive negotiation of sound and movement, while layered film and video evoke the textures and behaviors of organic systems. Live soaring vocals mix with electronics and choreography, blurring sound, body, and imagery.

"The visual imagery was akin to a Wilsonian landscape, where time seemed to stand still, requiring viewers to settle back and not check cell phones, but go into contemplative mode." — Victoria Looseleaf, Fjord
