Quartet Nouveau joins the La Jolla Art Festival!
Meet nearly 200 artists in an intimate setting of original fine art, entertainment, and delicious cuisines complemented with fine wine and craft beer as you stroll the turf of UCSD Warren Field. This is not a street fair but an elegant, high quality showcase.
The Festival is produced by the Torrey Pines Kiwanis, a non-profit organization that raises funds to support adaptive sports and recreation programs for San Diegans’ with disabilities. The Festival is a unique opportunity to combine support for adaptive programs and services that help those who have incurred serious and long term injuries, and artists who work hard to bring creativity and imagination to us every day. As a 501(c)3, the proceeds benefit adaptive sports and recreation opportunities for San Diegans with disabilities. Music from Salem: Cello Seminar Concert

In culmination of a week of study, the residents of Music from Salem: Cello Seminar will present a concert of works for solo cello and cello ensemble in Hubbard Hall, a beautifully restored 19th-Century Vaudeville Hall in Cambridge, New York.
The Cello Seminar is designed to explore music written for the cello by twentieth and twenty-first century composers.The wide range of repertoire, from classics to works on the cutting edge, will include pieces by such composers as Carter, Hyla, Harvey, Mackey, Jolas, Webern, Harbison and Tower.

Interdisciplinary Christian Wolff Symposium

On Tuesday, April 23, UCSD’s Department of Music will host a public symposium on the life and work of acclaimed 20th-century composer, Christian Wolff (http://eamusic.dartmouth.edu/~wolff/). The composer will be joined in public discussion by a panel of five distinguished faculty members:
Michael Davidson (Literature)
Charles Curtis (Music)
Roger Reynolds (Music)
Yolande Snaith (Theater & Dance)
Babette Mangolte (Visual Arts)
The symposium begins with a live performance of Wolff’s music - including Duo for Two Violins performed with two cellos by Jennifer Bewerse and Charles Curtis - followed by introductions of panel members and their questions. The composer will have a period to respond to these topics, after which, the panel will rejoin him for discussion , after which the floor will be opened to the audience.
