Without Walls Festival
October 5, 2013
7:30 PM
La Jolla Festival Village, Beer Garden
Salvatore Sciarrino’s La perfezione di uno spirito sottile was born as a ritual of music to be performed in the open, in the vicinity of precipices, cliffs, strange rock formations or boundless upland plains. Performed by soprano Stephanie Aston, flutist Rachel Beetz, and percussionist Dustin Donahue, this outdoor concert performance, set against the panoramic Wegman overlook, asks the audience to commit to the winds of the flute, bells of time, and sighs of existence, to discover that which unites these divergent landscapes. A primary condition manifests itself in each spectator: a losing of one's human dimensions, a surrendering to the whole.
Jennifer Bewerse will present a visual installation to accompany the performance.
$15 General Admission.
This performance takes place outside. Seating first come, first served.
