Conrad Prebys Experimental Theater

In 1981, Ellen Fullman began developing the “Long String Instrument,” an installation of dozens of wires fifty feet or more in length, tuned in Just Intonation and ‘bowed’ with rosin coated fingers. Fullman has developed a unique notation system to choreograph the performer’s movements, exploring sonic events that occur at specific nodal point locations along the string-length of the instrument.

This concert will feature music for the "Long String Instrument" with guests Charles Curtis, Jennifer Bewerse, Judith Hamann, Tommy Babin, and Carolyn Chen.

Diagenesis Duo Recital

April 1, 2014

1:00 AM

Myrna Loy Center

As part of the Myrna Loy Center's Grants to Artists program, Diagenesis Duo performs a recital of modern works for soprano and cello.

Diagenesis was formed when Heather Barnes, soprano, and Jennifer Bewerse, cello, met in July 2010, during the soundSCAPE performance and composition exchange in Maccagno, Italy.  While walking between rehearsal locations and working together in a chamber ensemble, they formed a mutual artistic admiration and became fast friends.  They decided to form a duo that would specialize in performing new music for voice and cello—a relatively rare combination. Their mission is to bring high quality contemporary music to audiences of every shape, size, and background.

Admission: $10 general, $5 students
